4th Annual Wild West Air Fest – The 4th Annual, Wild West Air Fest, takes off Labor Day Weekend with the entertainment in the air, on the mountain, and all over town. This is a celebration for the whole family featuring vintage and warbird airplanes, remote controlled aircraft, hang gliders, para-gliders, airplane rides, displays and classic cars at Bob Adams Field. Admission is required and wristbands can be purchased at the airport or Steamboat Visitors center. Adults $5.00/ Children (6-12) $3.00/ 5 and Under free - Wristbands are valid for the entire weekend.

2008 Stock Dog Challenge – Sheep Dog Trial – Experience the thrill of watching the smartest dogs in the world show off their skills at the 5th Annual, Steamboat Stock Dog Challenge. Showcasing some of the top border collies in the country, this is a sheepdog field where handlers, using only their voice and whistles, direct their dogs to guide sheep through obstacles in a field. You will be amazed by the incredible teamwork between handlers and their dogs, even when they are hundreds of yards apart. A BBQ lunch is available at the field.

Balloon Rodeo & Art in the Park

28th Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo – Steamboat’s most colorful weekend, a festival of vibrant colors and art is one of the most anticipated weekends of the summer. The 2008 event is at last year’s location – approximately a mile south of Walton Creek Road on Highway 40. There will be no PUBLIC PARKING. Transportation will be available with the Christie Club shuttles only. Please sign up in advance at the front desk for transportation to the event.

Summer Solstice Event – Join Yampatika for a special archaeological summer solstice tour of an “archaeoastronomy” (summer solstice sight) in Canyon Pintado near Rangely, with local astronomer Bill Lawrence. This is an all day outing that will include visits to other spectacular archaeological sites and rock art panels in the BLM’s White River Field District. Reservations are required.

Shakespeare on the Lawn – Steamboat Bio-diesel and select other sponsors present No Holds Bard Theater Company in Macbeth and Twelfth Night. No Holds Bard presents Shakespeare’s plays in their original format: interactive, unpredictable and down-right hilarious, a far cry from the stuffy Shakespeare of college courses making for a thoroughly enjoying summer evening and family outing. The event is free and they encourage guests to bring a picnic supper and blankets.

19th Annual Rocky Mountain Ford Mustang Roundup – More than 350 Mustang owners from Colorado Mustang clubs will convene in Steamboat for the weekend. A variety of great activities including an autocross at the Meadows Parking lot on Friday and a show and shine on Saturday, in downtown Steamboat Springs. This event
is free and open to the public.
